HANDSET

HANDSET

Technician: Hello, I’m here to fix your phone.
Customer: Are your feet dirty?
Technician: Yes, but don’t worry - I’ve got my shoes on!

I work for AT&T in Connecticut as a telephone line Installation & Repair Technician, and I’m always on the lookout for a good, durable telephone set. I found this one at a second-hand shop in Northampton, Massachusetts for $10. It’s an AT&T Traditional #100, a basic desktop workhorse of a phone with a nice weighted handset. It’s the kind of phone that’s easy to use and built to last. But unfortunately, this particular unit suffered a crippling blow to its keypad during a session of modified gestalt therapy, whereby various household items, other than pillows, become the objects for expressing repressed anger and frustration.
